Worth Watching: 'The Life & Times of Tim'

Just on a whim I decided to fire up HBO Go and check out the crudely animated series I've ignored for far too long, The Life & Times of Tim.

When I say crudely animated I mean it. It looks like this show was drawn and animated by a 2nd grade class, but is definitely not intended for children. As the title suggests, the show follows the misadventures of Tim. Just your average guy in his mid-twenties with a corporate desk job and a knack for fucking up everything for himself and everyone around him. He lives with his ever forgiving girlfriend Amy (M.J. Otto) and works with his two friends Stu (Nick Kroll) and Rodney (Matt Johnson) for "The Boss" (Peter Giles).

This show is a lot like Curb Your Enthusiasm in that it's main character is constantly getting into awkward situations through a Rube Goldbergian series of events. You can basically think of Tim as a mumblecore version of Larry David. Unlike Crub, I do think a lot of the situations Tim finds himself in to be a bit more realistic despite being animated.

The show is currently on it's third season which ends Friday at 9pm. There is a possibility it could be the last. If you have access to HBO Go then all the episodes are available. If you don't you really won't be missing all too much if you jump in at any point, most of the stories are pretty self contained. I really fell in love with this show and blasted through all 3 seasons in just a few days. If this show sounds like your cup of tea go check it out. There is some fantastic guest voices in there as well.
