Google Releases Official Google Maps App for iPhone

Ever since Apple unexpectedly ditched Google's maps API in favor of their own, iOS 6 users have been impatiently waiting for a Google replacement. Today is that day and Google has released their own client which restores the invaluable Google Maps data and more importantly for me, Street View.

The app is free and available right now in the iTunes store.

Google Delays The Nexus Q Indefinitely

When Google revealed the Nexus Q this year at their I/O event it was met with a lot of criticism. The bulk of it was over the $300 price tag and furthering it was the lack of third party streaming applications and reliance on an Android device to power and control the device.

Earlier today Google let folks who pre-ordered the Nexus Q know that they are postponing the launch while they "work on making it even better." An unexpected bonus of this is that pre-orderers will get a preview unit of the Nexus Q for free. Not a bad gesture. I'm skeptical if this device will ever see the light of day at this point. But if it does I won't be surprised to find it as a $99 Netflix. Hulu, HBO Go streaming box sphere. via: The Verge

Google Begins Google Fiber

The internet situation in this country is pretty terrible. Leave it to Google to start a revolution in provider game, or should I say gang. Google will being their roll out of fiber internet in Kansas City. If you live in the Kansas City area you can apply now to get Google Fiber in your neighborhood. The neighborhoods with the most pre-registration get in first. The rest of the country can only count the days until Google decides to bring fiber to their neighborhood.

How much will Google Fiber cost once you get it? The starter offer is 5Mbps for the low price of free, after a $300 instillation fee. Then $70 for up to one gigabit upload & download, no data caps and no instillation fee. On the top tier is $120 which gets you everything in the $70 tier, Google TV service with DVR, 1TB Google Drive and a Nexus 7 tablet. Not a bad deal. Verizon, Time Warner, Comcast and the rest of the providers can start shitting their pants now. Read on to learn more about Google Fiber.

Google Chrome comes to iPhone and iPad

The third party browser space on iOS hasn't been all that exciting. There have been some interesting and clever additions to the space but nothing I could see myself using on a daily basis. Today that changed with Chrome on iPhone and iPad.

Google has released their popular browser to iOS with a very compelling first edition. If you sign in with your Google account to all instances of Chrome you use you can sync your open tabs and all your bookmarks. The navigation is simple and clean in typical google fashion. It takes a bit of getting used to but after a while it becomes very easy. You can download Chrome for iPad and iPhone right now.

Google announced their competitor to popular cloud storage solution, Dropbox, today. Google Drive hopes to be your main way to access all your files any where you are. Starting with 5GB of storage PC & Mac apps, Android app and a planned iPhone and iPad app. There isn't much about Drive that sets it apart from Dropbox.

If you are deep into the Google ecosystem then Drive will be very useful especially if there is a deep intergration with Android. Google Drive is not available yet but you can sign up to be notified at the Google Drive page. You can watch a video on what Google Drive is all about after the break.
